  • Job Description – Chief Instructor / Training Manager

    The London Language Factory Ltd QFC BRANCH (Directors Languages)

    Directors Languages is a Global Business Language School operating in 65 + Countries worldwide, providing bespoke language and cultural training for our corporate clients.

    You will work under the supervision of our General Manager in Doha, Qatar for a military project providing English, Maths, Science and IT Training to military cadets.

    You will be required to:

    • Ensure the quality of teaching and instruction meets the programme’s Key Performance Indicators.
    • Ensure that the clients’ satisfaction with the academic programme exceeds high expectations.
    • Keep the General Manager informed of any issues affecting the smooth running and/or reputation of the programme
    • Provide management for direct reports and total oversight of your team.
    • Sensitively and proactively deal with student complaints on both academic and non-academic matters as directed.
    • Timetable teaching and cover lessons as appropriate and communicate this with staff.
    • Maintain the standards of the academic area at all times
    • Promote and maintain a harmonious relationship with everybody on-site, including colleagues, clients and students.
    • Hold weekly staff meetings and monitor the performance of teachers ensuring they are following the course specification as directed.
    • Ensure staff attendance and report teachers’ absences as directed.
    • Cover classes when required.
    • Identify students for remedial and create remedial lesson timetables
    • Ensure all staff adhere to current academic policies and best practices.
    • Understand the need to keep sensitive information confidential and adhere to Data Protection Best Practices.
    • Maintain accurate files and records.
    • Refer all commercial decisions to the General Manager for consideration.
    • Ensure that teachers maintain accurate records, safe and secure classrooms.
    • Ensure that the teachers complete all the necessary administration pertaining to lessons, registers and records of work.
    • Troubleshoot IT issues for instructors and students
    • Create timetables and arrange staffing for mid-term and final exams
    • Ensure transportation and base passes for instructors are organised on an ongoing basis
    • Follow staff disciplinary processes as required

    Teacher development to include the following:

    • Continue training and induction of new teachers on site, ensuring that teachers are trained and able to use the programme technology.
    • Provide advice and support on teaching matters as required.
    • Observe and monitor teacher performance routinely with focused and developmental observations.
    • Obtain and act on feedback from students and teachers.
    • Ensure that teachers are informed of recent developments in EFL.

    Requirements:

    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
    • Excellent technology skills including MS Office, Teams, Learning Management Systems
    • Bachelor’s degree in relevant discipline
    • Teaching qualification
    • Must have taught in the classroom within the last 6 years
    • Must have proven management experience
